The movie below shows the probe (grey circle) as it is overcome by the mobile barchan dune. Although it is stationary, the probe appears to travel against the wind blowing from right to left. The thermometers indicate the temperature actually measured by the probe and the temperature predicted by our 2D simulation using Comsol Multiphysics.
